Student Gerald Chaney is the 2007 Lincoln Laureate Scholar

Gerald Chaney, student, secondary education: English, was chosen as a Lincoln Laureate Scholar by the academic trustees of the Lincoln Academy of Illinois. The Lincoln Laureate Award is presented yearly to an outstanding senior from each participating four-year degree-awarding institution in Illinois.
Chaney remarked: "Winning this award solidified my desire to serve NEIU, even after I graduate. It enforced my commitment to integrity. Knowing that we are all stewards of education, our University's most valuable resource, helps me to remember to pause and appreciate my academic experiences within these hallowed halls, on these grounds and with the very special people of Northeastern Illinois University."
